Star Wars Abstract Painting
Which character did you choose to base your composition on? Why did you choose that character?
For my character, I chose Yoda. I chose this character because I thought he looked looked like someone that would best suit my ability. Yoda already sort of had shapes so it was easy to tweak. Yoda only had a face and only 1/4 of the body which gave me time to change him into a cubism artwork.
Which style of Cubism did you use? How can we tell, cite specific examples from your work for justification (explanation)?
The style I used for cubism was synthetic. I was going for whatever the end piece came out as and that would be my style of cubism. I used a trait of each cubism but it turned out to be mostly synthetic so I started doing synthetic. Yoda has pieces of very basic triangles of different materials in the background and his clothing. The paper was so the purpose of showing synthetic cubism and other materials as well like paint, some chalk pastel, etc.
What does Analytical Cubism mean? How does the artist create this style?
Analytical Cubism is cubism that is interpreted as the object it's going for but with a little twist to make it more interesting. I believe it is tweaked depending on the artist style and it resembles the object it's going for with colors. I used this technique because it looks like Yoda but it is different at the same time because the colors and the background doesn't look like a normal background.
What does Synthetic Cubism mean? Describe how this is different that Analytical Cubism.
Synthetic Cubism is where the artwork is created by many materials to create synthetic cubism. Synthetic cubism is where it looks different and uses colors to represent it. Synthetic cubism is different than analytical because synthetic is more of different media while analytical is not. Analytical is a little distorted but still being able to tell what it originally is.
What is Hermetic Cubism? How does an artist create this style? What are the steps needed to create Hermetic Cubism?
Hermetic cubism is very distorted. It doesn't look like the original idea and it looks confusing. You can't really tell what it is but you can tell some bits of it. It is like a cracked mirror when you can see it from different points of view. I didn't really show the hermetic cubism a lot. All I really put was the slight distortion in the background. To create hermetic cubism, you need to look at you idea at different points of views and see from an angle.
How could you improve your project? Give specific examples with solutions of how you would like to fix them.
I could have added more cubism to it. I will do this next time by distorting it more and focusing more on the cubism itself. My artwork doesn't show strong points of cubism and I think I didn't show that enough. Also, I could have added a trait of each cubism and added it to my artwork. I will do this next time by focusing on one trait one at a time and successfully do it right.
