Life of African Americans
1. Justify how this project/activity/assignment meets the standard, using evidence from the standard itself to demonstrate your mastery and/or understanding.
The African Americans in the mid century were treated very differently back then compared to today's society. People used slaves and made them do free labor for them while they got treated very badly with scars everywhere. In the South, the cotton gin was invented and the slaves were forced to work. This assignment relates to the standard because I used information from different sources and understand the concept of the life of African Americans in the mid century.
2. Elaborate on at least 1 skill and/or strength you feel you gained from completing this project. (Coloring and or drawing are not skills to write about - elaborate on life skills you can take out of this project)
I feel like I gained the skill of learning how to cite evidence from different sources. I got the information from textbooks, cloze notes, notebook notes, etc. Being able to get evidence from all kinds of sources is very helpful when there are not a lot of information and you have to get the most out of that.
3. Upon reflecting on your work/score, what is ONE area of work you could have done better on? How will improving in this area benefit future work/projects? (Coloring and or drawing are not skills to write about - research skills, time management, etc…)
I could have made more bullet points for more information and I could have managed my space well. I made a lot of notes but the pictures were a bit small which made it look like I did not manage my work well. I should have organized my thoughts before I did all this because I had to improvise and didn't know what might go wrong.
4. How will you presently apply the content and skills you learned from this assignment in the real world (outside of the classroom, particularly in today’s society) Make connections between the content and your life.
I learned that being able to get sources even if they may not be the best or efficient. In life, there will not always be the things I need and I will just have to learn to work with what I have currently and not make any excuses about it. Learning to use surrounding things when there are not provided will help in school, when getting jobs, or other things.
