Recognizing Advocacy in History
Cesar Chavez
Cesar Chavez was a famous Mexican-American civil rights activist. He was born on March 31,1927 on Yuma,Arizona and died on April 23,1993 on San Luis,Arizona. He was a farmer and a labor leader. He founded the National Farm Workers Association. Cesar fought for the rights for the farm workers, and for clean drinking water in the fields,as well as the right to have access to use the bathroom.
He was the best known Mexican-American civil rights activist. He led the American Labor Movement. He used non-violent tactics but caused his supporters a hard time. His tactics had forced growers to recognize the UFW as the bargaining agent for 50,000 field workers in California and Florida. Cesar Chavez and his supporters protested to gain their rights as farmers. It was the largest farm worker strike in the U.S. history. Like Martin Luther King and Mahatma Gandhi influenced his him by the non-violence tactic.
People like Cesar Chavez and other famous civil rights activists that showed advocacy.Like them, to be able to change the world takes a lot of courage and determination. Learning from this, I can change the way people may be unfair to.In my current state,I couldn't have been brave enough to stand up for an unfair policy. In the past, I didn't stand up for someone because I was afraid of what people would think of me.In this world, there are not enough people that are like Cesar Chavez. As we people grow, I trust in me and other people to be an advocate in the world. Not because we will get a reward, but for the good of the world.Helping people because someone have to doesn't make me a good person.Doing something good without someone telling me,(being initiative),is what makes me or other people a good person. Even though just one person in a hundred does something good, because of many bad things that are going on,doing the smallest things to help the world just made the world a better place.
